There’s an art to giving a gift well. There’s usually a process involved in giving a big gift, well – and that’s where GiftStarter comes in making it easy to do that. Did you know that you can use the power of Facebook to rally family and friends AND keep it a secret for the gift recipient? Yes, it’s possible to do a secret post on Facebook. Here’s the detailed step-by-step guide on how to do that – do that secret post on Facebook and make that amazing gift a reality for the recipient. I’ll show you, in detail, how I do it for an actual gift campaign that’s really going on for a person I happen to know (and who is deserving of an amazing gift).
My Secret Post on Facebook: A Drone for Kevin’s Christmas Present (Real, actual gift campaign).
1.) Let’s start with a gift – for my example, I’ll use this gift I know about for Kevin. Here it is.
2.) Then I go to my Facebook page to start my post.
3.) Then I click into the area to begin a new Facebook post.
4.) I write my compelling post to rally friends of the recipient, Kevin, and any other folks that might know Kevin.
5.) Now it’s time to customize who can see this post. I click the button to the LEFT where you see “Public”.
6.) Once I click on [Public], next I click [More Options] in the drop down menu that shows up.
7.) Then I scroll to the option that is [Custom], which will let me specify which people I want to see or NOT see this post.
8.) Now you see two sections. On top, you can see a section where you can add people that CAN see the post. On the bottom half, there’s a section where you can add people that canNOT see this post.
* Also note, as long as no one TAGS them specifically in the post, in the comments, the person as tagged “Don’t share with”, will never ever be able to see this post. It does not exist for them. So, make sure in your post, that you specifically call out who should NOT be tagged – so everyone who sees the post knows NOT to tag that person.
9) In this particular post, I tag the people that should see the post, and those that should NOT see the post.
That’s it! Once you’ve tagged the appropriate people in the correct sections, click [Save Changes] and you’ll be set to go! You’ve now completed the steps to do a secret post on Facebook.
10.) Here’s what my post looks like once I’ve set up my custom settings for this secret post on Facebook.
Some quick edits to the post, since I’m really going to post this for real to show you. Then it is ready to go: a) My post has been written. b) I put in my GiftStarter gift link to the campaign I want to rally people around. c) I’ve set up the custom post settings, so that Kevin will NOT see this post. That’s it! Easy. This will let us surprise him once the gift is funded! I cannot wait to see this gift fund — Kevin is going to be so excited.
11.) I’ve clicked [Post]. Here’s what it looks like live in Facebook – and it is a secret post to Kevin (he doesn’t know this post exists).
Side note: Major kudos to Evan for thinking of doing this awesome gift for Kevin. It’s really the perfect gift for most every male I know of. If you feel inspired and want to gift a drone bundle (or specifically, the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced Quadcopter Drone with 2.7K HD Camera EVERYTHING YOU NEED Kit + 2 Total DJI Batteries + 32GB Class 10 Micro SD + Reader + Carry on System w/Harness) for someone, here’s a custom gift link for a drone bundle to start now (it’s free to start a gift campaign.)
